Living in North Vancouver, and being lucky enough to have nature at my back door, I love to take photographs of our beautifull West Coast.  Most of my photos are taken on walks or hikes in and around the North Shore mountains and shorelines.

My initial interest was in black and white nature photography. And it still is. After travelling to Thailand with my family this summer, I discovered how amazing color photography can be.  The incredible color of the water in Thailand as well as the architecture, food and flowers, etc. would not be the same captured in black and white.

I now have a renewed interest and love for color photographs but will definitely continue to shoot in the black and white format that I love.

Most of the photos on this site have been taken with a four year old
Sony point and shoot digital camera.  It has seven megapixels.  The camera is very out dated compared to what you can buy now.  Professional photographers, and I am not one of them, have always known that it is not the camera but the camera operator that creates a great photo.  Many people use photo editing software to alter their photos but software can not change composition or where the photographer is standing or the time of day it was taken.

I do not have Photoshop, believe it or not.  I do change the contrast on some photos if I had failed to set the correct exposure.  And sometimes I crop images to resize them.  But apart from that, what you see is what I saw when I looked through the view finder to take the photo.

I try to compose the shot to what I feel is best so that I can capture the image the first time.  Just like using film. Even though I could easily take over 100 images or more, digitally of one subject, that is not my goal.

P.S. I do not do weddings!  I will leave that for the professional wedding photographers.
